Research area: I am available to supervise Bachelor's and Master's theses in cognitive psychology, numerical cognition and mathematical learning. Possible topics include:
- development of numerical and mathematical skills;
- symbolic number processing and numerical ordering;
- individual differences in mathematical learning;
- typical and atypical development of mathematical abilities;
- assessment of early numerical skills;
- cognitive processes underlying mathematical learning.
The format of the thesis will depend on the project. In some cases, students may be able to join ongoing research projects, including taking part in experimental data collection. Other projects may involve designing a new study and obtaining approval from the relevant Ethics Committee before data collection can begin, and therefore require a longer preparation period. Students interested in completing a thesis under my supervision are therefore encouraged to contact me well in advance of when they intend to begin their thesis work.
