Animal Behaviour and Cognition Lab
Our research investigates the cognitive and perceptual processes that underlie animal behaviour, with the primary interests of understanding how cognition and perception evolved in different species. In particular our goal is determining whether similarities and differences among species are determined by their phylogeny and the level of complexity of their nervous systems or rather are shaped by the social or ecological factors specific of the environment in which they evolved.
In particular, our current research is focused on the following topics: numerical abilities, lateralization of cognitive functions, sex differences in cognitive abilities and visual perception.
