APEP preconference

Association for Personality and Evolutionary Psychology preconference will take place the day before the Polish Society for Human and Evolution Studies Conference in Padua, the 19th of september 2023, where researchers and practitioners of all career stages can network and inform themselves of research in personality psychology and evolutionary psychology. This serves as the inaugural meeting of the society and will be chaired by the society president, PK Jonason, vice-president Vlad Burtverde, and will feature a series of 10 minute, rapid talks on topics such as depression, social media, intrasexual competition, and life history theory. 


The Association of Personality and Evolutionary Psychology is a professional association that aims to facilitate scientific research and good practices in the field of personality psychology, individual differences and evolutionary psychology. Through its activity, the Association of Personality and Evolutionary Psychology contributes to the advancement of knowledge and practice in the field of individual differences, evolutionary psychology and applied psychology by organizing scientific conferences, publishing scientific research, training and professional development, and involvement in social and media events.

The keynote speaker for the pre-conference will be the opening speaker for PTNCE, David Schmitt, the world's most cited cross-cultural psychologist. He was a former student of David Buss at the University of Michigan, the organizer and primary investigator for the International Sexuality Description Project, the former Caterpillar Professor of Psychology at Bradley University, and the current director of the Centre for Culture and Evolution within Brunel University London’s College of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences. He is known for his work on sex differences, sexuality, and personality psychology, having been published in journals like the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Brain and Behavioral Sciences, and the Journal of Research in Personality.
