THE 2026 Ranking: Psychology at the University of Padua Among the World’s Top 100
Unipd is the only Italian university in the top 100 of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026
The Psychology program at the University of Padua has been ranked among the world’s top 100 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026, one of the leading global university evaluation systems, placing 95th. This ranking confirms the excellence of both research and teaching in psychology at Unipd, making it the only Italian university included in the top 100 worldwide in this field.
In this edition, THE evaluated universities across several sub-disciplines: clinical psychology, educational psychology, sport psychology, work and organizational psychology, and animal psychology. This result reflects the strength of the entire psychology area at the University of Padua (DPG, DPSS, and FISPPA) and reinforces the University’s role as a national and international reference point in the field of psychology.
For each subject, THE’s methodology is based on 18 performance indicators, grouped into five main pillars:
Teaching: reputation for teaching, student-to-staff ratio, proportion of doctorates, and resources.
Research Environment: research reputation and productivity.
Research Quality: citation impact and the strength and influence of scientific results.
International Outlook: engagement with international students and faculty, and global research collaboration.
Industry: funding from industry partnerships and patents.
At the top of the 2026 ranking is the University of Cambridge, due to exceptional performance in internationalization.
