WIN Study Centre (Well-being Interventions in and with Nature)

Inauguration on 15 May at 3:00 p.m., Room 4T-CLA Via Venezia 16, Padua

On 15 May 2026, the inaugural event of the University of Padua’s interdepartmental Study Centre, named WIN Well-being Interventions in and with Nature, will take place. The Centre aims to promote winning solutions to address some of the major challenges facing contemporary society, including urbanization, sedentary lifestyles, and the growing prevalence of non-communicable diseases. It seeks to establish itself as a leading hub for the systematic and multidisciplinary investigation of the positive contribution of natural environments to human health.

In a historical context marked by a progressive distancing from nature, the Centre leads a research programme aimed at measuring, validating, and integrating the therapeutic potential of natural ecosystems into care pathways and the promotion of psychophysical well-being. Through a multidisciplinary approach connecting psychology, medicine, and forest sciences, the Centre investigates, using both quantitative and qualitative methods, the effectiveness of nature-based interventions, including forest bathing, green mindfulness, physical activity in nature, mindful walking, social horticulture, and biophilic design.

The Centre brings together more than 50 researchers affiliated with 8 departments of the University of Padua in the areas of psychology, medicine, and forest sciences. Directed by Professor Angelica Moè, it benefits from the valuable collaboration of numerous local associations and organizations. It is supported by an international Advisory Board that maintains an ongoing dialogue with the main global research networks, promoting methodological innovation and the harmonization of protocols in the field of individual and public health.

The Centre is also engaged in important activities aimed at knowledge dissemination and social innovation, as well as in professional training on the preventive, therapeutic, and resource-enhancing role of the natural environment. These activities include specific training opportunities addressed to a range of professionals working in the fields of well-being and health promotion, and of the protection and enhancement of the natural environment.

“The perspective of the WIN Study Centre is based on the assumption that biodiversity protection and human care are two sides of the same coin,” emphasizes Professor Angelica Moè, P.I. of WIN, “united by a scientific vision aimed at improving individual and collective quality of life.”
